Reincarnation Blues by Michael Poore: A Book Review

"What if you're an asshole?" someone called. The Master offered a weak smile. "I doubt very much," he said, "that many happy people are assholes."

Ten thousand lives. That's all you get. You either gain Perfection and join the Oversoul, or you fade away into Nothing. Milo has spent nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety-five of those lives messing it up and he only has five lives left. There's also the Universals - non-human souls that watch over the human ones. Death is one them, but she prefers to be called Suzie.

When Michael and I first started dating, we always joked about how we mesh so well together that we've probably lived other lives together. It's not a personal belief that we hold, but there is something romantic about living ten thousand lives always finding each other.

And that's what I loved about this book. Milo is an interestingly flawed character and each life was an interesting journey. Painful at times, and definitely hard to read, but there were times when he was so close to Perfection he could taste it. But like a lot of us, we fall harder when we're almost there.

I agree with the Master - if you're not happy with who you are then you keep working on yourself until you're happy and maybe that's what perfection is.
